HONOLULU – The Rainbow baseball team began their final season in the W.A.C. with a bang…or maybe more appropriately---several of them.
Mike Trapasso's club broke open a tight ballgame with five runs in the 7th inning en route to an 8-2 win at Les Murakami Stadium Thursday evening.
Trevor Podratz opened the scoring in the 7th with an RBI single that scored Stephen Ventimilia, making it a 4-2 game. After a Collin Bennett strikeout, Breland Almadova plated a pair on a 2-run single. Zack Swasey immediately followed with a bases clearing double to left center, making the score 8-2.
The Bulldogs had been getting quality pitching from Tyler Linehan before the outburst, as he was managing a 3-2 game entering the 7th.
Linehan allowed a pair of runs in the 2nd inning: one on an RBI single by Swasey, the other via a bases-loaded walk to Stephen Ventimilia. In the 5th, Breland Almadova pushed across the ‘Bows 3rd run with a single.
Matt Sisto pitched a solid 6 innings to notch his 5th win of the season. He allowed 2 earned runs on 6 hits, with 6 strikeouts against 2 walks.
