Pine to challenge Berg for Leeward Council seat

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - There's a new candidate in the running for Honolulu City Council and it's a familiar face.

State representative Kymberly Pine announced this morning on Sunrise that she will seek the District 1 council seat for the Leeward Coast.

Pine will run against outspoken Leeward councilman and her former legislative aid Tom Berg. Pine says as councilwoman she'll continue to focus on bringing good jobs to the leeward side, easing traffic congestion and lowering the cost of living and doing business on Oahu.

Berg won a special election for the District I seat in 2010.
