Hop into Spring with Fun Family Festivities at Ward Centers

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Celebrate spring at Ward Centers with a month of fun activities! From making Faberge-style eggs to an Easter egg contest... Ward Centers has something fun for the whole family!

April 6 & 7 - Spring Plant Show & Sale

Colorful varieties of anthuriums and orchids will be on display and available for purchase, along with ti-leaf, cactus, a variety of garden plants, haku lei, corsages and floral arrangements, just in time for Easter. Presented by the Hawaiian Anthurium Society, the plant show and sale will be held at the Ewa end of Ward Warehouse on Friday, April 6 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday, April 7 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. There will also be free anthurium horticulture workshops at the Ward Warehouse amphitheater stage at 10 a.m. daily.

April 6 & 7 - MOA Hawaii Annual Children's Painting Contest, Exhibit & Festivities

Bring the family to enjoy free spring activities, presented by MOA Hawaii, in the Kakaako Conference Room, on the second floor of Ward Warehouse. On Saturday, April 7, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., enjoy a bontemae tea ceremony, participate in healing jorei, and craft make-and-take mini floral arrangements. On Friday and Saturday, the winners of the Annual Children's Painting Contest, sponsored by Pan Pacific Culture Center and MOA Hawaii, will be on display. The

painting exhibit is free and open to the public on Friday, April 6 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and on Saturday, April 7 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

April 7 - Free Easter Activities Sponsored by Ka Lei Eggs

Celebrate Easter with fun keiki activities on Saturday, April 7, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Ward Warehouse, Diamond Head end. Activities include sun craft, balloons, free temporary tattoos and Easter Basket craft with a $1 donation to benefit Read-to-Me International. Bring a camera to take a photo with Ka Lei Egg's mascot, Aunty Ka Lei.

April 7 - Easter Egg Contest

Bring a decorated Easter egg to Ward Warehouse (Diamond Head end) on Saturday, April 7 to enter the Easter Egg Contest sponsored by Ward Centers and Ka Lei Eggs. The contest is open to ages 4 years and older, and the top three winners in each age category will win great prizes. Categories are as follows: Cutest (ages 4-8) and Most Unique (ages 9 and older). The first 50 entrants receive a certificate for a dozen Ka Lei eggs. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with judging at 11:30 a.m. and awards at 12:30 p.m. Entries are judged based on originality, craftsmanship and eye appeal. One entry per person. Contestants must provide their own egg stands. Egg stands/d├ęcor cannot exceed eight square inches in size.

April 7 - Easter Bunny Treat Trail

Ward Centers presents its annual Easter Bunny Treat Trail on Saturday, April 7, 2-3 p.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their keiki to Ward Centers to hop along the Treat Trail with their Easter baskets and collect treats from Ward merchants (participating merchants will have a carrot hanging over their doorway).

Faberge-Style Egg Display and Workshop by Eileen Tokita at Ward Centre

To celebrate the Easter weekend, Eileen Tokita will be offering a Faberge-style egg workshop at Ward Centre on Saturday, April 7, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., in the space across Red Pineapple. The workshop is suitable for ages 10 and older and is limited to 12 participants. If necessary, a second class will be scheduled from 2:30-5:30 p.m. the same day. The workshop cost per person is $35 and includes everything needed to decorate the perfect Faberge-style egg! To reserve a space, please call Eileen at 728-9477 or come to the midday workshop for space available seating. Eileen's beautiful Faberge-style eggs will also be on display in the display window between Goma Tei Ramen and Red Pineapple from April 2-30.
