HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - University of Hawaii quarterback Cayman Shutter, 21, who was arrested last week on suspicion of drunken driving, has been suspended "indefinitely" and immediately.
Hawaii head coach Norm Chow made the announcement Tuesday afternoon. Chow stated that he has not begun the process of deciding how Shutter will be able to work towards reinstatement, only that the Punahou grad is suspended from all team activities.
Police say Shutter's vehicle was reportedly speeding and weaving on the H-1 Freeway near the Punahou Street overpass at about 3 a.m Thursday. Police pulled him over near the Lunalilo exit and say his blood alcohol content was above the legal limit.
Shutter was expected to compete for the starting job at UH.
