HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - University of Hawaii quarterback Cayman Shutter, 21, was arrested on suspicion of DUI this morning.

Police say his vehicle was reportedly speeding and weaving on the H-1 Freeway near the Punahou Street overpass at about 3 a.m. Police pulled him over near the Lunalilo exit and say his blood alcohol content was above the legal limit.

Shutter is expected to compete for the starting job at UH.

In 2011 Shutter played in one game against UC Davis completed 1-of-2 passes for 13 yards. In 2010 he appeared in three games at quarterback against Charleston Southern, Idaho and Tulsa in the Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl.

Statement from University of Hawai‘i head football coach Norm Chow

"We are aware of the incident involving one of our student-athletes. We are in the process of gathering all the facts. We have a code of conduct which our student-athletes are to adhere to and we expect them to represent both the university and football program to its highest integrity. We will make a follow-up statement at a later date after we gather all of the information."
