UPDATE: 'Suspicious' person shot by homeowner dies

UPDATE 03/27 2:38p.m.: Tyler Police Department was informed today Tuesday, March 27, 2012 that Jason Raychard Williams died at 1:48 p.m.
9:30 AM UPDATE: Released by Tyler PD: The following details were told to investigators last night in reference to the shooting that occurred at 1807 N. Ross Street:
A neighbor living across the street from the home owner at 1807 N. Ross was taking out trash when he observed a suspicious person lurking around the outside of the residence at 1807 N. Ross. The home owner, identified as Terry Traylor, B/M, 11/13/78, was contacted by telephone about the person his neighbor saw. Traylor walked outside his home armed with a handgun while on the telephone with the neighbor.
Traylor was confronted by the suspect, identified as Jason Raychard Williams, B/M, 8/22/84, who told Traylor not to move or he would kill him. Williams was also armed with a handgun. Traylor then shot Williams one time striking his handgun with the round ricocheting into the suspect's head.
Williams is currently in critical condition at East Texas Medical Center. The investigation into the details surrounding the shooting continues.
2:05AM UPDATE: The victim in this case has been identified as Jason Raychard Williams, 27, of Tyler. He is in the ICU at ETMC Tyler. No arrests have been made at this time.
Tyler Police say at about 9:45 Wednesday night, officers were called to the 1800 block of North Ross Avenue.
Investigators say a black male was found shot in the forehead. He was taken by ambulance to a Tyler hospital.
Details on the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still coming in, but police say the resident of the home fired the shot and called 911.
Lieutenant Russell Jacks with the Tyler Police Department told us the victim did not have any form of identification on him, so they are unsure of his name at this time. He said they are not releasing the resident's name until his story is confirmed.
Police say the resident is cooperating with officers, and the case is still being investigated.
