Silverswords Fall to Cal Baptist

RIVERSIDE, CA –The Swords fell to the California Baptist Lancers today in two conference contests at Funk Stadium on the CBU campus. 

Freshman pitcher Brett Aspel (Redondo Beach, CA, Redondo Union) took the loss for Chaminade in game one, giving up eight runs on seven hits in the 8-0 loss. Silversword senior Dawn Dela Cruz (Honolulu, HI/Moanalua) had a double in game one, the lone Chaminade hit, as CUH fell in five innings.  Sloan McHann starred for the Lancers in game one, going 2-2 with a home-run, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's.  

Chaminade's Elia Lizarraga (Torrance, CA/Narbonne) and junior shortstop Rayna Strom-Okimoto (Aiea, HI/Aiea) combined for three CUH hits in game two.  Strom-Okimoto went 2-2, including a double and the Silverswords lone RBI.  Lizarraga added the third hit for CUH. The CUH offense wasn't enough as Cal Baptist continued their offensive dominance in game two, with three players tallying homeruns in the second conference contest of the day. CBU took game two 11-1 in five innings.    

Coach Kent Yamaguchi commented after the losses: "We ran into a hot-hitting Cal Baptist team today.  Credit Cal Baptist, they played well today, but we can hit better and we have to."

Freshman pitcher Kaitlyn Watanabe (Kula, HI/Baldwin) took the loss for Chaminade in game two, giving up 13 hits and 11 runs in five innings.

Chaminade is back in action for a doubleheader against Cal Baptist on March 27th in Riverside, CA. First pitch is set for 5:00 PM PT. 

The Swords move to 6-14, 5-9 in PWC with the losses, while Cal Baptist moves to 27-5 overall, 12-4  in the PWC.
