MILILAN (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hundreds of people were left in the dark after a power outage was reported in Mililani.
According to Hawaiian Electric Company, 400 customers were affected.
Residents told police they heard a loud explosion just before 1:30 a.m. Monday.
In the same area of the outage, police found a gaping hole that provides access to underground cables.
The area in front of the American Savings Bank on Kipapa Drive was blocked off so people and their cars do not fall inside.
HECO says the outage was related to underground cables and crews were on the scene, however, a spokesperson could not verify that the two events are associated.
Power was restored to customers by about 3:30 a.m.
