HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 34-year-old Schofield Barracks Soldier has been killed in Afghanistan.
2nd Lt. Clovis Tim Ray of San Antonio, Texas died March 15 in Kunar Province, Afghanistan of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked a dismounted patrol with an improvised explosive device.
Ray was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
2nd Lt. Ray's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (posthumous), Purple Heart (posthumous), two Army Commendation Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal (posthumous), Combat Infantry Badge and Parachutist Badge.
2nd Lt. Ray joined the Army April 20, 2010, and is survived by his wife and 5-year-old son.
