UPDATE: KAUAI MAN BATTLING FLESH-EATING BACTERIA

Lihue resident John Stem, who is fighting a rare case of flesh-eating bacteria, has been transferred out of Wilcox Memorial Hospital and into an Oahu hospital. At last word, Stem's mother was hoping her son would be flown to Oahu to undergo major reconstructive surgery. NATIVE HAWAIIAN CHARLES MAXWELL DIES

After a prolonged illness, Native Hawaiian leader Charles Maxwell has died at the age of 74. Maxwell was instrumental in getting the Ritz Carlton Kapalua to move its location to prevent the exhumation of hundreds of Native Hawaiian burials. We'll have more details coming up on Sunrise.
