HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - University of Hawaii men's basketball center Vander Joaquim was named to the 2012 National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 6 first team.

According to UH, he's the first Rainbow Warrior named to the all-district team since Roderick Fleming in the 2008-2009 season.

Joaquim, a 6'10" junior, led the Warriors this year in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage and blocks. His 20-point, 13-rebound performance against Idaho last week helped the Warriors earn its first WAC Tournament win since 2005.

The two-time WAC Player of the Week also ranks sixth-all-time in blocks for the university. His seven blocks at Nevada earlier this year was just one short of tying the school record.

Joaquim is one of 240 NABC honorees who are eligible for the NABC Coaches' Division I All-America teams which is expected to be announced on Mar. 20.
