HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaii State Civil Defense is reminding residents whose property, home or business was damaged by severe weather during Mar. 3-11, to report it.

The public is advised to call the state's toll free number: 855-211-7456 ext. 654, even if damages were already reported to the county or a nongovernmental organization.

The State Civil Defense says they need an accurate account of disaster damage to determine whether or not the state meets the criteria for supplemental federal disaster assistance.

According to the state, reporting damage does not guarantee financial aid for repairs. Photo documentation of damages is recommended.

State Civil Defense staff members will monitor telephone calls. If the line is busy or does not pick up, please leave a message including contact information and island so damage assessor can return the call.
