HAIL HITS KAUAI
The severe weather slammed Kauai again. This time, the Garden Isle has been hit by hail so intense it was described as "ice cubes falling out of the sky."
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH/FLASH FLOOD WARNING
The National Weather Service has just issued a Severe Thunderstorm watch through 10 this morning for 3 Counties- Honolulu, Kauai and Maui. A flash flood warning is posted for Kauai and Oahu and Maui too. We'll have team coverage this morning on Sunrise. Dan is watching what will happen over the next few hours and Steve is tracking all of the weather related issues on the Neighbor Islands.

One of the big problems Sunrise is watching- road closures. The Hanalei River Bridge is closed due to fast flowing water and landslides.
NIMITZ REPAIRS & POLE DOWN IN KALIHI
We have a couple of traffic problems already. Crews are still trying to fix a water main break on Nimitz at Alakawa. Ramsay will have live updates on the work in progress. Plus, you should avoid the 3600 Block of Kalihi Street this morning. A pole has come down on some wires. We'll have updates on air and online on all traffic hotspots throughout the day.
KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY CLEARED
There's at least one bright spot for commuters. Kalanianaole Highway is back open after the car crash into a utility pole caused a major jam last night. I should know. It took me nearly 4 hours to drive to town and back to Hawaii kai last night. HECO has also just restored power to all customers.
Stay on top of the Severe Weather by joining Sunrise starting at 4:30.
See you then,
