Flash Flood Warning for Kauai

KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A flash flood warning remains in effect for the island of Kauai until 11 a.m.

According to Kauai Civil Defense, Kuhio Highway at the Hanalei Bridge remains closed. Kuhio Highway at the Kalihiwai Bridge near Kilauea is also closed. Officials say Kaapuni Road is Kapaa is now open.

Locations in the warning include, but are not limited to:

  • Haena
  • Wainiha
  • Hanalei
  • Princeville
  • Kilauea
  • Anahola
  • Kappa
  • Wailua
  • Lihue

Residents in low lying areas are encouraged to move to higher ground/

The public is advised to not cross fast flowing or rising water in a vehicle or on foot.

Runoff from the storm may also cause rock and mudslides in steep terrain.

The warning may be extended beyond 11 a.m.
