Flood advisory extended on Oahu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A flood advisory has been extended until 2:30 a.m. for parts of north and Windward Oahu.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu said at 11:18 p.m., radar showed a nearly stationary area of heavy rain near Waikane.

Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Punaluu, Turtle Bay, Laie, Kahuku, Kaaawa and Hauula.

Persons in those areas should avoid streams, drainage ditches and other low-lying areas that are prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff could also cause hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility, roadway ponding and reduced braking action.

The advisory may be extended if heavy rainfall persists.
