HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Theresa Wang, the Big Island doctor almost killed in the car crash involving former U.H. quarterback Colt Brennan in November, 2010, made her first public speaking appearance since the accident. Wang addressed a crowd of more than 100 people gathered at the Ala Moana Hotel for a conference put on by the Brain Injury Association of Hawaii Thursday.
Wang said despite enduring more than a dozen surgeries and ongoing physical and cognitive rehab, she does not hold a grudge against Brennan or his then girlfriend, Shatki Stream, who was driving the car that crossed the center line causing the collision.
"I should be more angry at them, but then I thought, that's a waste of my energy. So why don't I just put it toward me. I mean they've already taken a lot from me.
Why am I going to spend all this energy that I could rightly choose to use to get myself better. So, that's my message," Wang told the audience.
The crowd responded with a standing ovation.
