HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Flood Advisory is in effect until 4:15 a.m. for parts of the island of Maui.
The National Weather Service in Honolulu said at 12:58 a.m. radar showed moderate to heavy rainfall continuing along the windward slopes of Maui from Hana to Kahakuloa. The area of rainfall has been nearly stationary.
Other locations in the advisory include, but are not limited to Hana, Keanae, Haiku, Paia, Kahului, Waihee and Wailuku. Persons in those areas should avoid streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas that are prone to flooding. Caution should be used while driving due to reduced visibility, ponding on roadways and reduced braking action.
Forecasters said the advisory may be extended past 4:15 a.m. if the heavy rain persists.
