Honolulu & Maui County under Severe Thunderstorm watch

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has also issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 1 a.m. for Honolulu and Maui County.

This includes the cities of Honolulu and Kahului.

A severe thunderstorm watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

The National Weather Service say those living in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings.

Severe thunderstorms produce winds of 58 mph or higher.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has also issued a Special marine warning for...

  • Maui county leeward waters
  • Pailolo channel
  • Maui county windward waters
  • Kaiwi channel
  • Oahu leeward waters
  • Oahu windward waters

Until 9:45 p.m.
