Rush Limbaugh
HILO, Hawaii (AP) - A Big Island radio station is no longer airing
the Rush Limbaugh show after he called a law student a "slut" for her
testimony in support of birth control coverage in her college health plan.
KPUA AM 670 in Hilo canceled the show Monday as advertisers
nationwide such as AOL And Tax Resolution Services Co. abandoned the three-hour
program.
New West Broadcasting President and General Manager Chris Leonard
says the decision was made over the weekend. He says if 1 of the station's disc
jockeys had made such comments, that person would have been fired and he didn't
want to hold a syndicated program to a different standard.
He says Limbaugh's comments "crossed a line of decency"
and that he's not considering bringing the show back in the future.
