The warning is also in effect for the north and west facing shores of Kauai and Niihau, and for the north facing shores of Oahu, Molokai and Maui.
The NWS says the warning will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Battering waves are expected to hit the shoreline, resulting in dangerous swimming conditions and deadly rip currents.
