Alex O'Loughlin in Treatment, Wet Weekend Ahead, Warriors 2012

Aloha from Hawaii News Now! Here are some of the stories we're working on for our 5 and 5:30 newscasts on this Aloha Friday:

ALEX O'LOUGHLIN TAKING A BREAK FROM HAWAII 5-O
The show's biggest star won't be in at least one episode, according to multiple reports. The 35-year old Australian actor will reportedly seek treatment for prescription medication. More on this developing story at 5.

STATE ON THE HOOK WITH SUPERFERRY FALLOUT
They may be gone forever, but the state is still paying for the Superferry debacle. That's according to a state audit that lists bills for barge repairs and bills for relocating both vessels. Jim Mendoza has that story at 5.

SEVERE WEATHER IN THE SOUTH
It has been a hellish past few days for parts of the Midwest as numerous tornados have ravaged the area. And tonight,  the severe weather has claimed at least four more lives.

FLOOD ADVISORY FOR PARTS OF THE STATE
Heavy rainfall on Oahu this afternoon prompted a flood advisory for parts of the island. But the bigger concern is what's in store for the weekend. Guy says a storm system will bring heavy rains as early as this Sunday. How long will it last? Tune in at 5 and check out our Interactive Radar.

DEADLY MORNING ON OAHU ROADS
Two people died overnight in separate incidents. One collision involved a motorcycle and a car; the other involved an elderly pedestrian who was trying to cross a street in Waipahu. More details at 5.

2012 U.H. WARRIOR FOOTBALL SCHEDULE RELEASED
It starts with a road game at Southern California and ends at Aloha Stadium against South Alabama. Coach Norm Chow's inaugural season at the helm of the U.H. Football team won't be an easy one with six road games on the docket. Mike Cherry has the rest of the 2012 matchups. Click HERE to view the complete schedule.

SEARS STAYING OPEN LONGER
Initially, Sears at Ala Moana Shopping Center was supposed to close in 2013. But there's been a change in plans. The closing date has now been pushed back.

BLINDFOLDED RUBIK'S CUBE RECORD
As if solving the handheld puzzle isn't hard enough! Wait until you see the new world record by a guy who's blindfolded, no less!

These are just some of the stories coming up at 5 and 5:30 when you join Stephanie Lum and me. I hope to see you then!

Aloha,
Shawn Ching
