KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - The stalemate between Kauai's police chief and the mayor continues even though they met Monday night in an attempt to resolve their differences.
Chief Darryl Perry tells Hawaii News Now that nothing came out of their meeting and that everything remains the same.
Mayor Bernard Carvalho has ordered other police officers at KPD to lock Perry out of his office, so he cannot access his badge or gun, even though the police commission said Perry could return to work.
The dispute arose after the mayor suspended the chief over the handling of a workplace complaint.
Monday night, there was talk of a possible compromise so that Perry would be allowed back to work as soon as Tuesday. However, for now the power struggle continues.
