Driver arrested in Chinatown hit-and-run

CHINATOWN (HawaiiNewsNow) - The driver involved in an alleged hit-and-run in Chinatown is in police custody.

Investigators believe Kaimipono Kamauoha, 21, crashed into a man on Nimitz Highway near Maunakea Street.

The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The victim, believed to be in his 40s, is hospitalized in serious condition.

Honolulu police have impounded Kamauoha's vehicle, but are still looking for witnesses.
