Pedestrian Hit & Run, Kauai Police Chief Back at Work?, Two Hotel Fires

PEDESTRIAN HIT & RUN

We're following an overnight pedestrian accident. Word from the scene in Chinatown is that a man in his 40's was hit by a car just after 1 this morning. Police are trying to locate the driver who took off. The victim at last check is in serious condition.

TWO HOTEL FIRES

Guests at two Waikiki hotels got a rude awakening. Around 1:30, some sort of "localized fire" broke out at the Hawaii Prince Hotel. Some facebook posts indicate it was a dumpster fire. The second reports of fire are from the Ala Moana Hotel. That reportedly happened just after midnight. So far, no comment from Ala Moana. Ramsay Wharton is gathering details on both and will have live reports starting at 4:30 on Sunrise.

KAUAI'S POLICE CHIEF BACK ON THE JOB?

Hawaii News Now has learned that Kauai Police Chief Darryl Perry plans to return to work this morning. Chief Perry says the police commission voted unanimously to bring him back effective today. Although there are reports that Kauai's Mayor doesn't want Perry to get back to work yet. Perry was placed on leave after a female officer filed a complaint against the department. You can see the exclusive interview we did with Darryl Perry at this link.
