HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaiian Airlines says about 75 flights experienced delays Tuesday following a morning power outage at the Honolulu International Airport's inter-island terminal.

The backlog started when doors to the jetways locked down without power.

Hawaiian Airlines spokesperson Keoni Wagner says all flights should be back on schedule by 5 p.m.

Wagner says the airline has put into service two spare aircraft and has called in reserve flight crews in an effort to get back on schedule.

The power outage was reported at about 4:30 a.m. Power was restored to the inter-island terminal at about 7:35 a.m.

According to a Department of Transportation spokesperson, airport crews were able to manually unlock the doors of the jet ways, allowing passengers to board their flights.

At 4 a.m., the airport conducted its monthly emergency generator test. Officials say the test went well, but they believe the outage may have been triggered while bringing the power back up.
