PASSENGERS LEFT HANGING
Air Australia's abrupt closure has stranded about five hundred passengers in Hawaii. They're now waiting to learn how they'll make it back to Melbourne and Brisbane. The carrier was taking reservations as recently as Wednesday and shut down without warning yesterday. We'll have team coverage this morning with Ramsay Wharton at the airport and Howard Dicus in house explaining what went wrong.
OVERNIGHT TRUCK ACCIDENT
A pickup truck flipped overnight on the H-1 East near the Kinau off ramp. We know the 32 year old driver was injured and had to be pulled out of the wreckage.
HIGH SURF ADVISORY & STIFF BREEZE
Surf in the country is picking up and trade winds are strengthening for your Aloha Friday. Waves are flirting with warning status. Dan says we could see 18-24 footers on the North Shore. An advisory is posted through 6 tonight.
PEARL HARBOR WELCOMES JOHN STENNIS
Happening today, about 7,000 sailors are pulling into Pearl Harbor for leave with the John C. Stennis aircraft carrier strike group. They look forward to the R & R after a more than six-month deployment to the Middle East and Western Pacific. The carrier's air wing flew the Navy's final air mission over Iraq on December 18th.
WHITNEY HOUSTON FUNERAL PREPS
Plans are being finalized for Whitney Houston's funeral tomorrow in her hometown of Newark, New Jersey. Stars such as Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder will pay tribute in music. The singer's ex husband Bobby Brown has been invited to attend services. We'll check how fans are honoring her this morning.
