HALEIWA (HawaiiNewsNow) - As of early Thursday evening, the Honolulu Medical Examiner's office still had not released the names of the two people killed in an apparent murder-suicide Wednesday morning at a home overlooking Waimea Bay on Oahu's North Shore.

Friends, however, identify the woman as Amy Kaufman, 40, and the man as her estranged husband, 41 year old Chris Kaufman.

Police believe Chris Kaufman, broke into the property at 59-811 Kamehameha Highway and used a semi-automatic weapon to shoot Amy before turning the gun on himself.

Responding officers found the bodies in the carport of a man who had befriended Amy Kaufman. She had filed for divorce January 12, 2012.

A family friend who paddled with Amy as a member of the North Shore Canoe Club told Hawaii News Now, "We have lost two really good friends, the nicest people you'd ever meet."

"Amy had a wonderful soul," the friend said.
