HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A drug offender convicted of murdering a tourist in Waikiki was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole Wednesday.
Circuit Judge Dexter Del Rosario also granted the prosecution's request to set a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison because Aaron Susa is a repeat offender. He was found guilty of promotion of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia in a 2005 case.
The nude body of Bryanna Antone, 25, of New Mexico was found on the beach near the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in 2009. Susa claimed he had sex with the victim, but did not kill her.
The judge also granted the prosecution's request to revoke Susa's probation in the drug case. Del Rosario re-sentenced him to the full five-year prison term.
Susa did not make a statement in court prior to sentencing because he is appealing the verdict.
