HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Every tax season, volunteers across the country participate in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, also known as VITA, Program. Employees with Bank of Hawaii also take part in the program.
The VITA Program is volunteer-based. IRS-certified volunteers prepare income tax returns free of charge for low- to moderate-income families and people who need help preparing own taxes. They help families take advantage of tax credits which may be available to them.
Volunteers are available at the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. every Saturday from now until the tax deadline. Families are assisted on a first come, first served basis. If you can't make it on a Saturday, call the Legal Aid office at 536-4302 to schedule an appointment during the week.
Please bring all documentation that you would normally need for filing a tax return (W2 forms, form of identification, social security card, etc.)
