Breaking news.. A fire broke out at a popular sushi restaurant in Aiea a short time ago. The owner of "Makino Chaya" tells us the flames started in a garbage can in the kitchen. Luckily, sprinklers put it out and it will be open for business today.
RESCUED AND REUNITED
New developments this morning involving that dramatic rescue of 3 Canadian boaters at sea. A nine year old boy is now safe in his mother's arms after going overboard into the ocean off the Big Island with his father and uncle. Overnight we talked with her about the ordeal. You may remember we mentioned yesterday that she didn't think it was a good idea for her son to be on the sailing trip from Mexico to Hilo. Hear what she had to say coming up at 4:30 on Sunrise. You can also hear how the rescued trio recalls their scare at sea right now by clicking here.
Tradewinds have returned and they're getting a warm welcome, as in warmer temperatures. We can expect brisk winds through tomorrow and a few windward showers. But, temperatures will climb back into the lower 80's, and give us a mostly sunny weekend.
SURF ON THE WAY DOWN, ANOTHER SWELL COMING
The high surf advisory expires at 6 this morning. The big northwest swell is on the decline although it's still running double overhead through today.
