WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A tree branch fell in Waikiki seriously injuring a couple visiting from the mainland.

It happened at the international marketplace Tuesday just before 4 p.m.

The Honolulu Fire Department says the branch that was three inches in diameter fell and struck the couple as they were walking through the marketplace.

They were both taken to the hospital in serious condition. The injuries are not life threatening.

The strong winds may have been a factor in the incident.
