Sex offender fugitive appears before Oahu judge

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Jordan Monteiro, 31, wanted in Virginia for violating probation in a child sex assault case, appeared before an Oahu judge Tuesday and waives his right to an extradition hearing.

"You're looking at an innocent man," he said in court. Monteiro was convicted in 2001 for aggravated sexual battery & carnal knowledge of a child 13 to 15 years old.

Hawaii law enforcement captured him in Kapolei last week.

He will be held without bail at OCCC until Virginia authorities can pick him up.
