HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Chinatown Chase applies the concept of "Amazing Race" to the streets of Honolulu. Participants start at Hawaii Theatre and embark on an exciting scavenger hunt. Watch as Steve, Tannya and Dan try to beat the Chinatown Chase.
One of Honolulu's liveliest fundraisers will heat up the sidewalks and side streets of the Honolulu Arts District on Saturday, February 11, when Hawaii Theatre Center stages its 6th Annual Chinatown Chase with the provocative theme, "Forbidden City".
This upscale romp begins at the Hawaii Theatre where teams of 10, armed with gadgets, clues and a map, are tasked with unraveling riddles, sleuthing through the neighborhood byways and performing foolish feats as they visit shops and galleries, watering holes and other local landmarks in an all-out quest to the finish line. The evening culminates with a sizzling party on Bethel Street with entertainment, food and libations, a silent auction, team prizes and, of course, ultimate bragging rights for the winning team.
The top finishing team will be awarded a stay at the Four Seasons Resort Lana'i property of their choice, with cool prizes for the second and third place finishers, too. Costume creativity and team spirit also are rewarded.
If you think you have what it takes, assemble a team of adventurous friends or company cohorts and join event co-chairs Jane and Jerry Mount for this evening of spirited rivalry and fun. Teams of 10 are offered at $1,500, $2,500 and $5,000 levels.
The 2012 Chinatown Chase is sponsored in part by ChingFoster Design, Events International and Pacific Edge magazine. Proceeds from this event benefit Hawaii Theatre Center's educational programs and operations.
