Big Island firefighters battle Waimea house fire

WAIMEA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Big Island firefighters saved a Waimea home from being destroyed after a fire broke out Friday night.

Fire officials say the blaze erupted just before 8:30 p.m. on Kipahele Street.

According to authorities, the flames started in the back of the house and quickly burned a bedroom, bathroom, and tool shed.

No one was home at the time.

Damage is estimated at $140,000.

Investigators are looking into the cause.
