The 2012 Punahou Carnival, "To Carnival and Beyond: A Futuristic Fantasy," takes off with its popular mix of family fun. Fresh malasadas, kiddie games and rides, White Elephant treasures and live musical entertainment are among the many treats for carnival-goers each year.
WHEN: Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3 and 4, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
WHERE: Punahou School campus. Entrance at the corner of Punahou St. and Wilder Ave.
WHO: Sponsored by the junior class of Punahou School with proceeds benefiting the school's financial aid program and student activities.
PARKING/TRANSPORTATION: Limited parking on campus. Paid parking is available at The Lutheran Church of Honolulu, Central Union Church, Maryknoll High School, Punahou Fitness & Spa and St. Clement's Episcopal Church. The Carnival is also accessible by city buses 4, 5 or 18.
COST: Admission to the grounds is free; scrip is available for purchase throughout the midway. Scrip will be valued at 50 cents instead of 25 cents this year in order to conserve paper; prices on average will remain the same: for example, Carnival's malasadas will still be 50 cents but will require one scrip instead of two.
