KALIHI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A manhunt for a stabbing suspect ended Thursday evening as Honolulu police officers stormed the backyard of a Kalihi home.
The incident unfolded shortly after 5:00 p.m. Thursday evening on Kaumualii Street after a man in his 50's stabbed another man multiple times, reportedly unprovoked.
Police say the 35-year old victim tried running away, but was stabbed yet again, and finally collapsed along Mokauea Street.
He was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Meanwhile, as the victim was being treated at the scene, he was able to tell police who stabbed him.
For several hours, Honolulu police officers went door-to-door looking for the suspect.
"He was able to tell us who stabbed him. Starting about that time police had been searching the neighborhood", said Major William Chur of the Honolulu Police Department.
The suspect was finally located, hiding nearby.
He faces attempted murder charges.
No word on why the stabbing happened.
We're told the suspect and the victim both knew each other.
A knife was found near the scene and recovered as evidence.
