HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service says a High Surf Advisory remains in effect for north and west facing shores across the state.

The advisory is in effect for north and west facing shores of Oahu, Kauai, Molokai and Niihau, the north facing shores of Maui, and the west facing shores of the Big Island.

Officials say surf will be between 14 and 18 feet on Wednesday for north shores. West shores can expect surf between 12 and 14 feet.

Surf is expected to gradually subside through Wednesday.

According to the NWS, the High Surf Advisory will remain in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Beachgoers are encouraged to be careful in advisory areas due to rip currents and localized erosion.
