"A staffing firm brings together job seekers and potential employers for the purpose of establishing a full time employment relationship." The idea of being full time stands out when candidates have the desire to seek long-term employment. Looking for employment on your own in today's job market can be both a challenge and a hardship, let alone the chance of landing your dream job. In addition, searching for employment and weeding through the many options for what types of job to choose can at times be over whelming. Staffing Recruiters not only have the insight for what jobs are available, but also what they feel you would be a great fit in within various industries. Combined with the background of knowing how to help you perfect and highlight your previous employment experiences, Recruiters also know how to help you best prepare for an interview. Recruiters are the key players in helping to ensure your resume is presented in front of many human resource hiring managers, while at the same time, being an added "Coach" in your corner for showcasing what you can bring to the success of any company.
To a Recruiter, helping you land your dream job is more than their job responsibility, but it is their passion for seeing you succeed. The passion for the employees success is what set's an agency apart from others. Staffing agencies can provide you, as a job seeker, with the opportunity to explore industries that might be out of your typical job search. Having a team present options for your job search as temporary, temp to hire or direct hire allows for you to test out the position, the company and your potential coworkers. You have the option to work the position and see whether or not it's of interest to you. If you decide the position is not a right fit for you, the advantage is that it is a temporary assignment. However, if the position is of interest and is a good fit, then it could lead to full time employment! By working temporary assignments, the job lets employees be exposed to different industries and environments; while at the same time providing many opportunities for networking.
Staffing firms are not only beneficial to those seeking employment. Companies in today's economy seeking a quick need for employees will turn to staffing agencies for flexibility and fast, easy access to talented job seekers. In a recent survey taken by the American Staffing Association (ASA) "companies that embrace work force flexibility and engage staffing firm talent do better economically." Of the staffing clients polled, the most commonly temporary services utilized were Office Clerical at 62% and Accounting/Finance making up for 28%. In an additional poll taken, seeking insight from 2,000 employers: "In what way will your company's workforce change over the next five years?" 34.3% answered the use of more contract and temporary workers. The bigger the business, the more likely the company is utilizing the services of staffing agencies. ASA found that companies with a 100+ employees, 24% were hired through the use of staffing agencies. Currently the industry outlook is showing an increase use for staffing agencies with various industry business clients, this then allows recruiters the ability to offer "jobs, labor market flexibility, efficient bridging to permanent jobs, training, lower unemployment rates, and enhanced productivity to the economy."
According to American Staffing Association, (1) 8.6 million temporary and contract employees are hired by U.S. staffing firms over the course of a year. (2) 88% of staffing employees say that temporary or contract work made them more employable. (3) 77% of staffing employees say it's a good way to obtain a full time job. (4) In 2010, on an average day companies employed 2.58 million employees a day - resulting in over 9.7 million temporary and contract employees in the course of the 2010 year. "Staffing employment increased 5.4% from the first to the second quarter of this year, according to data released by the American Staffing Association. This is the sixth straight quarter of temporary and contract employment growth since the industry began its recovery from the 2007–2009 recession."
Staffing agencies are the link that can land you the opportunity for success within a company that you once thought was out of your reach. In addition, the use of staffing recruiters allow for businesses to have access to a wide variety of skilled, qualified candidates seeking employment, while at the same time doing the ground work to find 'just the right employee'. Getting your foot in the door might be an ole cliché, but in the world of landing that perfect job and finding that perfect employee - it is no secret that knowing someone to help with the hiring process is key!
