HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Democratic Party of Hawaii says someone claiming to work for the party is asking residents for political donations.
The Party says a senior citizen received a call on Sunday from a person who falsely stated that Senator Dan Akaka would be running again in the upcoming election, and asked for a donation for this effort. The caller then stated that donations should be made over the phone.
According to Chuck Freedman, Communications Director for the Hawaii Democratic Party, this is a scam call and the resident did the right thing by calling it into the Democratic Party.
The party asks that anyone who is contacted asking for a political contribution which is questionable in any way should call the campaign office of the candidate or the party headquarters of the candidate before considering helping the particular campaign.
