KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Ocean Safety officials on Kauai are alerting the public about a high surf warning in effect through tomorrow for all north and west facing shores.
While the high surf warning is in effect, beachgoers are urged to stay completely out of the water on the north shore and at west facing beaches.
A high surf warning will result in very dangerous swimming conditions and deadly rip currents. The National Weather Service warns that rip currents can easily overpower even strong swimmers.
Officials anticipate extremely high surf and hazardous ocean conditions from Hanalei to Kekaha with waves expected to rise up to 35 feet.
Coastal residents should make preparations to protect life and property from large waves and possible flooding.
