HIGH SURF WARNING
A new northwest swell is expected to peak tonight. A HIGH SURF WARNING is posted for the north shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai and Maui. A HIGH SURF ADVISORY is posted for the west side of Oahu.
Dozens of homes and businesses in Aiea do not have running water due to a water main break. The Board of Water Supply said an 8-inch pipe broke around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Only one lane of Moanalua Road is open. Drivers cannot turn right onto Aiea Heights Drive.
HAZING COURT APPEARANCE
A Hawaii-based lance corporal accused of hazing a fellow Marine who committed suicide at their remote outpost in Afghanistan is due to appear in court on today. Lance Cpl. Jacob D. Jacoby has been charged with assaulting, threatening, and humiliating Lance Cpl. Harry Lew, who killed himself on April 3.
Mitt Romney says he's fought back from his South Carolina setback into the forefront of the Republican presidential field by more aggressively returning Newt Gingrich's campaign fire and by presenting himself as a Washington outsider. Romney tells NBC's "Today" show that in the days leading up to the South Carolina, he was "getting just whaled" by the former House speaker and says he didn't fight back very well. Now, Romney says, he's "pushed back," and says he believes the voters have responded to his charges that Gingrich has benefited from his business relationship with the mortgage giant Freddie Mac.
