CLEAN UP UNDERWAY

Happening now, Crews are busy cleaning up at the Pan Am Building. Overnight, sprinklers went off because of smoke detected somewhere inside. At least three floors have water damage. We'll have updates on Sunrise.

MISSING KAYAKER SEARCH TO RESUME

As soon as the sun rises, the Coast Guard will be back out to search for a missing kayaker in the waters off Kihei, Maui. Yesterday, a kayak belonging to 55 year old Torry Durrell was spotted off Kalepolepo Beach, but so far, no sign of him.

PRO BOWL PRACTICE AT PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM

Pro Bowl practice moves to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Ramsay Wharton will be there and bring us live reports on Sunrise.

FUNDRAISER FOR SIX YEAR OLD WITH BRAIN INJURY

Also at 5 p.m., Arizona Cardinal wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and UH Quarterback Bryant Moniz will join forces to help 6 year old Drew Iida. He's recovering from a brain injury. They'll hold an autograph & photo opportunity fundraiser at the Pan Am building's ground floor. We don't believe the fire evacuation at the building will have an impact on this event.

PUBLIC MEMORIAL FOR JOE PATERNO

Thousands are expected to turn out for a public memorial for Joe Paterno. Yesterday mourners lined the streets to watch the hearse carrying the legendary Penn State coach drive through campus to his final resting place. The 85 year old died Sunday after a bout with lung cancer.

COAST IS CLEAR AFTER SHARK SIGHTING

Beaches are back open this morning on Maui's south shore following a tiger shark sighting. The 12-to-14 foot shark was spotted twenty yards offshore of Kamaole beach park. There are reports the shark "bumped" a swimmer.

WEATHER NOW: ONE MORE DAY OF VOG

The stubborn vog won't back off until trades move in. Timeline for that to happen is tomorrow to Saturday. That's when Dan says tradewinds will return and clear the haze.

EDDIE-SIZED WAVES ON THE WAY?

Surfers are crossing their fingers for monster waves, courtesy of a Northwest swell. That could happen Monday or Tuesday. Hawaii News Now will have updated surf reports.
