HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The man arrested in a decades-old murder and rape case made his first court appearance Monday.
52-year-old Gerald Austin stood silently as the judge informed him of the two felony charges he's facing.
Austin was arrested Friday in the 1989 sex assault and killing of 81-year-old Edith Skinner. Investigators say new DNA evidence led to a break in the case.
Austin has eight prior convictions, including two felonies.
His bail remains at $200,000.
