Governor talks Teachers, Deadly Chopper Crash, Robbery Caught on Tape

With a threat of a strike by Hawaii public school teachers looming, Governor Abercrombie schedules a news conference this afternoon. Can an agreement be reached with HSTA and what about the millions of dollars in "Race To The Top" funding now in jeopardy? Our Jim Mendoza is gathering the late-breaking details.

A day after 6 Hawaii-based marines lost their lives in a chopper crash in Afghanistan, the military is announcing a possible cause and says there is no indication the CH-53D helicopter was hit by enemy fire.

Yet another violent robbery is caught on surveillance video. This time 3 men are seen stealing liquor from a convenience store in Waikiki and the clerk finds herself in danger.

And... Another local celebrity lands a role in Hawaii 5-0! Here's a hint...he just got a poke at Foodland named after him!

Hope you join Shawn Ching and me for these stories and more tonight on Hawaii News Now at 5 & 5:30!

Aloha!
