74-year-old woman who died in Waipahu moped crash identified

WAIPAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A woman is dead following a moped crash in Waipahu on Wednesday.

According to officials, the incident happened at around 9:20 a.m.

Police say the Eufemia Miranda, 74, was a passenger on a moped that crashed on Hoaeae Street near Honowai Street.

She was transported to the Queen's Medical Center with critical injuries to the head. She reportedly died at about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday.

The driver, a 78-year-old man, reportedly lost control of the moped. He was treated at the scene with minor injuries.

According to police, neither of them were wearing helmets.

This is the second deadly accident on Oahu's roads for 2012.
