HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Forecasters say Oahu and Kauai could see heavy rain and thunderstorms tonight.

Forecasters blame the severe weather on a front that is lingering just northwest of the Hawaiian Islands.

Showers will remain focused over the western portion of the state tomorrow but significant and steady improvement in conditions is expected.

For all islands the skies will be hazy and cloudy with elevated humidity levels.

By Friday, trade-wind weather will return, and the haze will drift off to the southwest.

The National Weather Service says winds will turn southeasterly early next week ahead of another front.
