HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Navy says it evacuated the Pearl Harbor NEX and Commissary around 4 p.m. after receiving a bomb threat.
The Navy says Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Security and Federal Fire Department responded immediately, establishing a safety zone that extended into the parking lot and initiating a thorough inspection, as standard procedure.
Around 6:30 p.m. the Navy released this statement: "After a thorough search, including with military working dogs, nothing was discovered. NEX Security provided a walk-through of the facility. The Navy Exchange complex has now reopened."
