United Public Workers endorse Hannemann for Congress

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - On Monday, the United Public Workers, Local 646 announced its endorsement of former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann to serve Hawaii's 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

"We believe that Mufi Hannemann has the experience and the vision to effectively represent Hawaii in Congress," UPW State Director Dayton Nakanelua said. "Mufi and I have worked closely together since our days as Cabinet officials in the Waihe'e Administration through the time he was Mayor and I dealt with him on collective bargaining agreements. His support for our members and working families throughout our state has been unwavering."

The UPW represents 13,000 civil service workers across the state, which is made up of cafeteria workers, custodians, electricians, emergency medical technicians and correctional officers, among others.
