MANOA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Governor Neil Abercrombie proclaimed Monday as "University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Volleyball Team Day."
A special ceremony was held at the Stan Sheriff Center Monday afternoon. Attendees included UH Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw, Rainbow Wahine Volleyball head coach Dave Shoji, as well as the Wahine volleyball team.
Last season, the Rainbow Wahine led the nation in attendance, averaging 6,814 people per game. They also ranked second in the national in hitting and winning percentage.
The team went undefeated in the Western Athletic Conference, making it the 16th consecutive title win in program history.
The Wahine qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the 30th time and advanced to the third round of the Division I Championship Tournament.
