TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A book about a little girl with big dreams debuts today.

Christina-Taylor Green was the smallest victim of the Jan. 8 mass shooting in Tucson.

Several months after that terrible day, her parents decided there would be a book, and her mom would write it.

The last thing John and Roxanna Green wanted to think about after their daughter's death was writing about it, but they knew there would be a book, and there was no one better to write it.

"I don't think anyone else can tell a 9-year-old's story besides her parents," Roxanna said.

So John and Roxanna set out with best-selling author Jerry Jenkins to write a story.

"As Good As She Imagined" is about a girly girl who played baseball, had a lot of friends and loved her family.

It shows their struggle to get help for a special needs child, a working father's pressure on the job and finally, the despair of losing a child.

It is very honest.

"Roxanna lets it all hang out in the book," John said. "It's an insight into our lives, into what our daughter was really about and how she came to be that way."

Readers will learn how the Greens found out about their daughter's death, the dark days that followed, and the extraordinary bond Christina and her brother had.

"They both liked to read," Roxanna said. "They were adventurous. They both loved animals. They loved to be outdoors, so they had a lot of common interests."

Christina and her brother had a lot of good times together that make the memories so precious.

The book does not mention by name the man accused of taking it all away.

Each chapter begins with scripture, the strength the Greens draw on to make the most of each day.
